Happy Independence Day!

240 years. Not a bad life you’ve had, America. For this birthday, I’d like to write you a little love letter… If that’s cool?

Thanks. Here goes.

You’re definitely the best country I’ve ever met. You are so very beautiful on the inside and out. Your people are so good, their hearts are so big. Your history is so rich, and your charity, unsurpassed. Your plains are indeed most fruited, and the light from your shining city upon the hill does glisten from sea to shining sea.

You’re incredible, you’re beautiful, and I’m in love.

Thank you for housing me over these first few years of my journey. As long as you’ll have me, I’ll be yours. I couldn’t go to anyone else.

I’m sorry I haven’t been the best citizen at times. I know what you need most is good people, and I haven’t always been the best person. I’m trying to turn things around, America, but I really need your help.

I see that you’re fading, America, and I don’t want to lose you. I don’t think you’ve ever been this sick, and I’m scared to death for your future. For our future. You see, America, whether people like it or not, you really are the shining city upon the hill. As America goes, so goes the world. You’ll always be the shining city, but that light that emanates from you, what will be its source? Will it continue to be the good deeds of your good citizens shining as the perfect example of true Christianity, or will it be the fires of evil consuming everything that once was so good and true?

I’m afraid it will be the latter.

But it doesn’t have to be this way!

Look to your past, America, and see the challenges we have overcome! No battle is too fierce, no task is too tall. The American people have a history of imploring their good God for His mercy, and He has proved time and again to be so willing to dispense of it.

That’s all we have to do.

I’m down on my knees praying for you, praying for us, America. Will you join me? Will you not look with pity upon your faithful son as he begs God for His assistance? Don’t you see, America, you are so very sick. Your people are forgetting to be good, and we’re losing the truth. When we lose the truth, we lose our God. When we lose our God, we lose our souls. When we lose our souls, we lose our country, we lose our eternal lives, and we suffer an eternity of pain and punishment. If anyone understands justice, it should be you, oh land of the free and home of the brave.

So I celebrate this Independence Day with the greatest cheer because of my love for you, but I’m also cautious. It may seem ironic, but I’m going to celebrate this Independence Day by acknowledging our dependence upon the good God who created this beautiful land. Will you join me in praying that most simple yet most beautiful prayer, ‘God bless America.’?

God bless America, my friends, God bless America.
