A Baseball Analogy

Perhaps the most beautiful aspect of the game of baseball can be summed up in these few words from Yankee legend, Yogi Berra.

“It ain’t over till it’s over.”

No matter if a team is down by ten runs in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs and no runners on base, a comeback is still possible. There is still time. Regardless of how bleak the circumstances may seem, the game truly is not over until the final out is recorded.

In this way, baseball is a lot like life. No matter if a soul is completely steeped in the worst sins imaginable as he lays on his death bed, a conversion is still very much a possibility. All the sinner must do is ask. He must pray. And if he prays to God with an honest heart, he will inevitably win the game that is life. He will be a champion, and his reward will be unimaginable.
