God created all things with a very definite end in mind. His infinite wisdom would not permit Him to create something that did not have a purpose. But if all things have a purpose–an end to which they must attain–there must be some governing force to help guide them to that end.
That governing force is God’s providence.
Being an infinitely wise and infinitely powerful being, God oversees every action of every one of His creatures. He governs our every move to ensure that His creation will achieve its ultimate purpose. This means that nothing can happen without God first approving it.
He created every aspect of all things, and He governs every aspect of all things. The implications of this idea are enormous, and we’ll be examining a few.
