According to the CDC, around 7.6 million people worldwide die from cancer each year. This deadly disease is perhaps the most dreaded diagnosis in the word, as its effects are overwhelmingly drastic and life-altering. In short, cancer is a disease which will all too often lead to death. How ridiculous would it seem, then, were doctors to come out and say things like, “Cancer is not the problem; only a small fraction of radical forms of cancer are deadly;” or, “Cancer is a peaceful disease;” or even, “We cannot be afraid of cancer simply because we don’t fully understand it;” and how strange would it be if a famous person stood in the crowded streets of New York City holding a sign which read, “We are all cancerous”? We would find all of these things very strange indeed, and in fact we might call such statements ludicrous. Yet, for some reason we are constantly bombarded by these exact statements every single day in relation to the most deadly cancer of them all, Islam.
Contrary to popular belief, Islam is not a religion of peace, most Muslims are not peaceful, radical Muslims are not a rare minority, and yes, Islam is indeed the problem. Islam, with its six pillars, shares much in common with the six hallmarks of cancer. And Islam is the very worst kind of cancer because it attacks the soul rather than the body. So what explains this seemingly willful blindness of so many people to overlook the faults of Islam while pretending it is some benign belief system?
The answer is actually not complicated. Islam is essentially the anti-Christianity. The two religions are polar opposites and the most bitter enemies. Frankly, evil people support Islam because they wish to destroy Christianity. Those who willfully sweep Islam’s crimes under the rug may not necessarily agree with or condone all of the beliefs and practices contained in the religion, but they certainly agree with its ultimate goal: the complete and utter destruction of Christianity.
This idea of Islam being the anti-Christianity is clearly expressed in the book, Lions of the Faith: Saints, Blesseds, and Heroes of the Catholic Faith in the Struggle with Islam by writer Andrew Bieszad. He writes,
“There are many differences between Islam and the Catholic faith [Christianity], and they have been extensively discussed by many persons; however, Islam is unique among world religions because it is the only religion whose theology specifically denounces and calls for the destruction of Christianity as a whole and regardless of form. This is motivated by its antipathy towards Jesus’ divinity. Islamic theology teaches that belief in the divinity of Christ is the worst sin a man can commit. This has been unanimously noted by every orthodox Islamic theologian going back to Islam’s founder, Mohammed. Since professing Islam means renouncing Jesus’ divinity, and being a Christian means embracing Jesus’ divinity, there is an unbridgeable divide between the two religions. This belief is the reason why Islam has actively worked to convert, suppress, and exterminate Christianity and Christians in Islamic societies for the past fourteen centuries.”
Again, Islam is the opposite of Christianity, and thus there should be no mystery behind support for Islam. We live in an anti-Christian world, and this means that we necessarily live in a pro-Islam world. Pat Buchanan put it best when he recently wrote that, “The strength of ISIS…lies in an emptiness in the soul of Western man.” If we wish to defeat Islam, we must embrace Christianity. The two religions are inversely proportional. No religion can be “a religion of peace” when it has at its core a blind hatred of Christianity. Such a hateful religion will never be conquered by the sword. The only antidote for the evil of Islam lies in the goodness of Christianity.
